Adam Hill performs both acoustic and electric bass in a variety of genres.
He has graced the stages of the Great American Music Hall (CA), the River City Bluegrass Festival (OR), the Stan Rogers Folk Festival (NS), Summerfolk (ON), the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival (CA), the Sisters Jazz Festival (OR), Northwest Folklife (WA), the Harrison Festival of the Arts (BC), the Yellowstone Music Festival (MT), the Electronic Music Midwest Festival (KS), and the South by Southwest Music Festival (TX), among others.
He has been a member of Atlantic String Machine, Taarka, Rogue Motel, Great Lonely Wild, Marmota, and The Sham; and, he has played in the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra, the Central Oregon Symphony, the Walla Walla Symphony, and the Obsidian Opera Chamber Orchestra.
Additionally, he has accompanied many talented musicians, including Rose Cousins, Joe Craven, Catherine MacLellan, Lennie Gallant, Andy Hillhouse, Kate MacKenzie, Andy Armer, Jay Thomas, Bill Dobbins, Rachel Beck, Hod O’Brien, Dick Hyman, and John Fedchock.
He has also appeared on recordings by Kagami, Beolach, Dave Gunning, Irish Mythen, The Crosswalks, Future Historians, Yoyodyne, and Super XX Man.

Adam Hill’s music has been presented by many notable performers and ensembles, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Central Oregon Symphony, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, the Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Men’s Ensemble, the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra, Nick Photinos, Marina Hasselberg, Mark Tashiki McGregor, Michael Murray, Wallace Halladay, and Esther Lamneck, among others.
His compositions have also been programmed at festivals across the world, including the Manchester New Music Festival, the New Horizons Music Festival, the Electroacoustic Barn Dance, the Murau International Music Festival, the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and the Sound of Dragon Music Festival.
Adam has received commissions from CBC Radio, the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra, the Luminos Ensemble, the Erato Ensemble, the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble, the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, and the Singers’ Club of Cleveland. He has also been the recipient of awards and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Foundation for Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings, SCI/ASCAP, the Blue Mountain Center, the Sitka Center for Arts and Ecology, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, and the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts,
He holds degrees from the University of British Columbia, Western Washington University, and Whitman College; and, he has taught at Holland College, Mount Allison University, Western Washington University, and Quest University.

Adam Hill has released five albums that have received critical acclaim and been played on radio stations across North America, Europe, and Australia. His last two releases, Water in the Draw (2019) and Old Paint (2015) have both hit the #8 spot on the Earshot! National Folk and Roots chart.
He has also toured all over the United States and Canada, hitting the stages of the Edge of the World Music Festival (BC), the National Old-Time Country and Bluegrass Music Festival (IA), Arts on the Fly (BC), the Whitehorse Poetry Festival (YT), Elevate the Arts Festival (BC), and the Tumbleweed Music Festival (WA), among others.
